25 miles east of the city of Oaxaca, natural springs containing CO2 gas bubble out of the ground, making it appear that the water is boiling. The acidity of the water carries large amounts of dissolved minerals. The  result is spectacular turquoise pools.and  huge "frozen"  waterfalls of minerals.
